Re-Living My Journey

Anyone who has looked at this blog within the past few months has been disappointed I'm sure at my lack of updates. I would like to apologize for that, but only to a certain extent, and hopefully you will understand once I explain.

When you're traveling (especially on your own) you get lost in this magnificent world and find yourself living in the present more than ever before. That is the beauty of adventures like mine.

My time was limited on each of my side trips, and when I was back "home" in Florence, I found myself wanting to soak up every moment, every street, every beautiful historical building, every person, every plate of pasta, every pizza, every glass of wine...and you get the point. I was not willing to give up a second of my time to reflect on the past. I was in the present, grateful for and loving every second.

When I realized how quickly time was passing, how fast moments were fleeting, I told myself I had no (or very little) time to spend on social media. I spent little time reflecting on past trips because I was filled with excitement about the current or even next adventure.

I mentioned a couple of times that this trip was one of the first times I was doing something entirely for myself, without having to answer to anything or anyone. Looking back on it now, I am so happy I kept this mindset throughout my entire journey.

I know a lot of people go into their time abroad promising to blog and keep everyone updated, and initially, I was one of them. But now I understand why it rarely continues for the duration of time spent overseas. It was magical to disappear from reality for a while and completely immerse myself in my adventures. I feel I was able to do that because I disconnected and committed to making the most of my time.

Now, I'm back on American ground and have loved catching up with friends and family. Lots of people have asked me about my time spent in Europe, and I absolutely love talking about it, because it was such a special time in my life - one of the best.

So I'm going to relive it. I'm going to post about each one of my adventures on this blog. Each weekend I went somewhere new and I'll tell you what I did, who I met, and what I would recommend if you're ever lucky enough to touch down on that unbelievable European soil. And hey, it's a pretty good excuse for me to re-live my life changing journey!
